A Slither of SHINY Glass

Finding peace in one’s life is sometimes a lifelong process. Sadly, sometimes the sought peace is never found. Where does one find peace? The peace that conquers fear and worries, the peace of knowing who you are - letting other’s opinions and fiery darts thrown your way be intercepted by a shield that doesn’t let them even slightly penetrate your serenity. Peace, as that belonging to a small, slither of shiny glass, standing strong in a dark valley surrounded by mighty boulders who want nothing more than to crush and obliterate that tiny bit of light.

God has called men to teach and preach. He has called us to encourage and uplift, to lead and comfort; not to try to prove to anyone who we are, or that we have peace, but to show others how they might find said peace. We cannot give it. We are to show others THE WAY. But the time comes in every life when one must find his own way to THE PEACE that no one can take; that cannot be shattered or crushed no matter what comes our way. Man can only do so much until the glorious day when God steps in and … (I can imagine Him saying,) “Thanks, I will take it from here.” When you have that peace you know it. The opinion of others of you and your peace will not faze you in the least.

John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Man can help us in instruction, but when it comes to our personal relationship with Jesus Christ, our Hope, our Calm, our PEACE, no man can give us that, nor can they take it from us.

Relationships with the Lord are kind of like snowflakes. Each is unique to individuals. How I worship may not be like anyone else’s. My conversation today with Jesus may be nothing like yours. You cannot hear my heart speaking to Him, nor can you hear what He says to me. People may judge our worship, even despise us for it, but God looks at the heart and knows who we are.

1 Samuel 16:7 - But GOD told Samuel, "Looks aren't everything. Don't be impressed with his looks and stature. I've already eliminated him. GOD judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; GOD looks into the heart."

Here is what happened when David worshipped…

I Chronicles
25 Now they were ready. David, the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands started out to get the Chest of the Covenant of GOD and bring it up from the house of Obed-Edom. And they went rejoicing. 26 Because God helped the Levites, strengthening them as they carried the Chest of the Covenant of GOD, they paused to worship by sacrificing seven bulls and seven rams. 27 They were all dressed in elegant linen—David, the Levites carrying the Chest, the choir and band, and Kenaniah who was directing the music. David also wore a linen prayer shawl (called an ephod). 28 On they came, all Israel on parade bringing up the Chest of the Covenant of GOD, shouting and cheering, playing every kind of brass and percussion and string instrument.29 When the Chest of the Covenant of GOD entered the City of David, Michal, Saul's daughter, was watching from a window. When she saw King David dancing ecstatically she was filled with contempt, despising him.

Days come in all of our lives when we can look to man for nothing but only look to GOD for everything. Those kinds of days are the days you know you have the PEACE that no one can take. May we each find that peace and worship the Lord for it.
